Texas Florist Who Admitted to Being in Pelosi’s Office Wants Case Moved from D.C. Because of ‘Cancel Culture’ - Law & Crime
Wednesday, March 31, 2021U.S. Capitol siege wants her case severed from a co-defendant she was charged with, and she also demands a change of venue, asserting she cannot get a fair trial in the liberal-heavy Washington, D.C. because of “cancel culture.” The defense for Texas florist Jenny Louise Cudd, who was on video happily admitting to being in the office of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, asserted authorities were creating the “illusion” of a conspiracy between her and Eliel Rosa by linking their cases.“According to the Government’s Statement of Facts, the two were seen on security footage walking into the building, walking around, and walking out,” attorney Marina Medvin said in a filing Wednesday. “There is no evidence of communications or a plan between the two to enter the Capitol. Instead, the evidence is purported to be that they were at the same place, at the same time, followed a crowd into the open doors of the Capitol building, then walked out. They didn’t take anything, they didn’t break anything.”Cudd was among rioters raiding the U.S. Capitol Building on Jan. 6, after then-President Donald Trump continued to lie that he actually won the 2020 presidential election. Sherman R. Frederick Commentary: More Tragedy To Follow - Sparks Tribune
Sunday, February 28, 2021But in the end, as every mom and dad out there knows, the best defense for our children rests not Carson City or in Washington, D.C., but in our own living rooms. Watch your kids like a hawk. Give ‘em a hug. And let’s get our schools open now.ONE MORE THING— I’m trying to organize a hide and seek tournament, but good players are really hard to find.— Dad, are we pyromaniacs? Yes, we arson.— Never buy flowers from a monk. Only you can prevent florist friars.— For my Rolling Stones fans, I found this rare photo of band member Keith Richards holding Betty White. I’m sorry about that florist friars joke. I’ll pick up my knitting and let myself out. Thanks for reading. Be safe, be kind and mask-up. Washington court rules against florist in gay wedding case - Albuquerque Journal
Sunday, February 28, 2021OLYMPIA, Wash. — The Washington Supreme Court ruled unanimously Thursday that a florist who refused to provide services for a same-sex wedding broke the state’s antidiscrimination law, even though she claimed doing so would violate her religious beliefs.A lower court had fined Barronelle Stutzman, a florist in Richland, Washington, for denying service to a gay couple in 2013, and ordered her to pay a $1,000 fine.Stutzman argued that she was exercising her First Amendment rights. But the court held that her floral arrangements do not constitute protected free speech, and that providing flowers to a same-sex wedding would not serve as an endorsement of same-sex marriage.ADVERTISEMENTSkip................................................................“As Stutzman acknowledged at deposition, providing flowers for a wedding between Muslims would not necessarily constitute an endorsement of Islam, nor would providing flowers for an atheist couple endorse atheism,” the opinion said.Stutzman’s lawyers immediately... https://www.abqjournal.com/951260/washington-court-rules-against-florist-in-gay-wedding-case.html
