What started as a seemingly impossible dream for Monique Murphy, became a reality when she opened her Bean Station flower shop to the public Oct. 7 surrounded by family, friends and community.Monique’s Flower Barn specializes in both fresh and silk flower arrangements, as well as wreaths and other home décor items.Murphy said this has been a dream of hers for some time, and she finally decided to take a step of faith and start preparations to open the shop.She and her husband Josh saved money each month by setting aside what was left over after paying bills and other monthly obligations.Their hard work paid off when they were able to open having already secured a contract that would help cover the bills for the shop.Murphy says she knew it was meant to be and the Lord would provide. Her intention was to have a pop-up shop for two months to test the waters, but with 95 per cent of its Christmas stock sold, her customers have given her the support to press forward for another six months. “I was super-nervous to open. We didn’t know what restrictions would come, when they would happen, or when things would change, so it was extremely nerve-wracking,” Smith told The News. “But I thought amidst the pandemic, why not take the plunge?
