Grocery delivery service AmazonFresh arrives in North Texas - Dallas News
Tuesday, October 18, 2016In North Texas, Amazon Fresh will be available in Dallas and surrounding areas including Mesquite, University Park, Garland, Duncanville, Lancaster, DeSoto, Cedar Hill, Arlington, Grand Prairie, Farmers Branch, Carrollton, Richardson, Plano, The Colony, Frisco, parts of Allen (but not McKinney), Lewisville, Flower Mound, Southlake, Irving, Fort Worth and Burleson. Consumers can place an order in the morning and have it delivered as early as that same evening, or order before going to bed and have the items on the doorstep in time for breakfast the next day. Available items include fresh fruits and vegetables, meat, seafood, baked goods, and dairy products, along with pet supplies, baby items, beauty products and prepared foods such as Tyson Tastemakers Meal Kits, and products made exclusively for AmazonFresh like the Single Cow Burger, a new high-end beef patties. The program also will offer selections from several North Texas retailers through the Local Market program, including Local Yocal, V+V Apothicaire, and Scardello Cheese. All Local Market items are delivered as part of customers' AmazonFresh orders. The AmazonFresh program marks the second food delivery program Amazon announced this year for North Texas. In June the company announced a partnership in which consumers can order items from a Sprouts Farmers Market store in Dallas through the Prime Now program. Grocery deliverers popped up like daisies in the tech boom of the '90s and withered almost as quickly. This time around both tech companies and traditional retailers are looking at solutions that involve bricks and clicks. "The grocery retail landscape continues to evolve," said Kroger spokeswoman April Martin Nickels. "Kroger is focused on the introduction of our new ClickList service -- order online, pick up curbside -- in cities across the U.S., including Dallas-Fort Worth."The market is still trying to find the sweet spot that marries program profitability with consumer acceptance. Services such as Instacart deliver groceries from established retailers including Target and Whole Foods Market. Livingston said some services use Uber drivers. Looking ahead, "maybe a driverless Google car will bring your groceries" one day, Livingston joked. That means all players will have to be nimble. "I think Amazon is going to try this and see if it works out," he said. Calif. flower shop with no connection to Capitol riot flooded with threats, negative reviews - SFGate
Sunday, January 17, 2021Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s office being broken into during the riot, reports the AP. She also happens to be the proprietor of a florist called Becky’s Flowers in Midland, Texas — the source of the confusion for Aaron Alberti, who has owned and operated the Roseville Becky’s Flowers since 2004. Now, he’s trying to clear the air in order to save his business. “It’s been nonstop … we’ve just been flooded with messages,” he told SFGATE on Thursday afternoon. “One of our employees recently picked up the phone, and the person on the other line said, ‘Are you the bitch who stormed the Capitol?’ And she just said, ‘No, ma’am, we’re in California.’ And the person hung up on her. There’s no apology, no nothing.” At first, Alberti tried to delete the growing number of comments, which he found downright disturbing. “People have written things like, ‘I hope you get cancer,’ ‘I hope your shop burns down,’ ‘I hope you die,’ ‘I hope you rot in jail,’” he said. “And those are the polite ones.” Contrarily, Alberti added that the shop even received a love letter intended for Cudd from a firefighter living in Florida. “To be honest, they both concern me,” he said. In response to the harassment, Alberti notified the Roseville Police Department, which has been periodically sending out officers to check in on the shop. He also contacted Yelp, which he said acted quickly to remove the misguided comments, as well as Google, though he’s still awaiting a response. of this store since 1973.We are getting hate messages and bad reviews as a result.
