Bullard, ‘Top Chef’ finalist Doug Adams’ Texas-inspired Portland restaurant, opens Saturday - OregonLive.comMonday, December 17, 2018
Chef Doug Adams has come a long way from Bullard -- “a little football town in East Texas where I did not fit in” -- to Bullard, the new restaurant he and business partner Jennifer Quist are finally opening in downtown Portland this Saturday. The five-foot-nothing chef, who spent time studying, fishing and playing bluegrass music in Montana, found his real voice cooking in Portland, first rising through the ranks at his mentor Vitaly Paley’s restaurants, then watching his career take off after a top three finish on season 12 of Bravo TV’s “Top Chef."Bullard the restaurant has come a long way too. First announced more than two years ago, Adams’ and Quist’s passion project has been among Portland’s most highly anticipated restaurants ever since, even as delays at the surrounding Woodlark hotel pushed the restaurant’s opening back by more than a year. But now the brown leather booths are in place. The whiskey is arranged behind the bar. The hearth fire is burning in the open ki... https://www.oregonlive.com/dining/2018/12/bullard-top-chef-finalist-doug-adams-texas-inspired-portland-restaurant-opens-saturday.html
Flower girl - Boothbay RegisterTuesday, September 26, 2017
Farmingdale, and their flowers are being distributed in Boothbay Harbor and Wiscasset, to Boothbay Region Greenhouses, Water Lily Flowers and Gifts, and through Lutte's mother, Sally Bullard, owner of A Maine Wedding.Growing flowers is a labor of love for the Luttes, and that, along with producing pork and poultry, is just a part of how they spend their days. Both work at full-time jobs outside their farm, and they have two young children, Henry and Polly.Lutte has been a fundraiser for the Nature Conservancy for 12 years, beginning in Washington, D.C., and now in Brunswick.Lutte, who grew up in East Boothbay and Damariscotta, and her husband, who grew up in New Harbor, met while attending Lincoln Academy in Newcastle. They were living in Washington D.C. when they started talking about moving back to Maine in 2008. “My goal was always to have horses,” Lutte said. They found the perfect place in 2009, in Farmingdale. Thanks to an old sign that read “Lay Z Acres,” that they found in the barn on the property, they had a name for their farm. It's called Lazy Acres. After starting a fence for the horses, the couple began to formulate a plan to generate some income on their farm. “We were spending all our free time working on the farm, because... http://www.boothbayregister.com/article/flower-girl/91929?source%3Dmp
Your Garden: White flowers found growing in ditch - Fayetteville ObserverMonday, May 23, 2016
Dear Roger: Can you identify these? I saw them growing in a ditch in western Brunswick County. Thanks. - Ed Bullard, FayettevilleDear Ed: This is Hymenocallis crassifolia. It is native to wet areas of the coastal plain of North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia. It also grows in wet areas of Florida. Its common name is coastal Carolina spiderlily. It is distinguished from other spiderlilies by its stiff, straplike leaves. The fragrant flowers appear in mid- to late spring in ditches, margins of streams and rivers, bogs, brackish marshes and wooded river banks. The flowers form narrowly egg-shaped bulbs. These may be transplanted to wet areas, where they will multiply into large clumps over a period of years. While not as large and showy as some other species of hymenocallis, this is a pretty plant that can serve as a dense cover for wet areas.Dear Roger: The Fayetteville Rose Society will teach your readers how to root roses in a free session at 9 a.m. June 4 at the Fayetteville Technical Community College rose garden. The rose garden is on the main campus off Fort Bragg Road at the intersect... http://www.fayobserver.com/living/home_garden/your-garden-white-flowers-found-growing-in-ditch/article_512b24d3-e527-5a94-b51c-cc29f6aabcd7.html
Texas Florist Who Admitted to Being in Pelosi’s Office Wants Case Moved from D.C. Because of ‘Cancel Culture’ - Law & CrimeWednesday, March 31, 2021
Washington, D.C. because of “cancel culture.” The defense for Texas florist Jenny Louise Cudd, who was on video happily admitting to being in the office of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, asserted authorities were creating the “illusion” of a conspiracy between her and Eliel Rosa by linking their cases.“According to the Government’s Statement of Facts, the two were seen on security footage walking into the building, walking around, and walking out,” attorney Marina Medvin said in a filing Wednesday. “There is no evidence of communications or a plan between the two to enter the Capitol. Instead, the evidence is purported to be that they were at the same place, at the same time, followed a crowd into the open doors of the Capitol building, then walked out. They didn’t take anything, they didn’t break anything.”Cudd was among rioters raiding the U.S. Capitol Building on Jan. 6, after then-President Donald Trump continued to lie that he actually won the 2020 presidential election. The invaders postponed but did not prevent Congress for counting electoral college votes weighing in favor of the real winner, Preside... https://lawandcrime.com/u-s-capitol-siege/texas-florist-who-admitted-to-being-in-pelosis-office-wants-case-moved-from-d-c-because-of-cancel-culture/

Love in Bloom | Valentine's Day coming up roses for local florists - Texarkana GazetteSunday, February 28, 2021

It is my biggest day of the year," said Leenetta Tyler, owner of Ruth's Flowers at 3501 Texas Blvd. The most popular flowers for Valentine's Day are red roses, most florists agree. But Tyler and her staff are looking into several glass globes, predicting a long-lasting rose inside each globe will be a popular gift item for this holiday of love."Ladies love them, absolutely love them. They are sometimes called infinity roses. We have people who have had theirs for three years and some customers collect them," Tyler said. The rose, which comes in an array of colors, is preserved with a special fluid and is encased in round or heart-shaped glass. The rose globes are available year-round but Valentine's Day is a great way to start or add to your sweetheart's collection, Tyler said.Ruth's Flowers has several balloons, plush animal and snack options as well. With Valentine's Day falling on a Sunday this year, Tyler said they have been delivering flowers and gifts since Monday and will continue delivery through this week.
