Pinellas County Commission candidate Rene Flowers has earned her first endorsement from a would-be colleague.Commissioner Janet Long is endorsing Flowers for the District 7 seat currently held by Ken Welch.Long is the first sitting commissioner to endorse a candidate in that race.“I’ve known and worked with Rene Flowers during my tenure as a councilmember for the city of Seminole, on the Florida League of Cities Board of Directors ( where she served as President), as a member of the House of Representatives, and now as a County Commissioner,” Long said. “Whether it was supporting fluoride in the water, cleaning up our public parks, fighting for public mass transit, expanding affordable workforce housing units, or creating local business opportunities, Rene has always rolled up her sleeves to get the job done. BOULDER, Colo. — Flowers arrangements and roses are moving fast at Boulder Gardens Florist as people pay their respects for the lives lost in the King Soopers mass shooing in Boulder Monday.Joshua Dusk is a florist at Boulder Gardens Florist. He’s been there for about a year but has 22 years of experience. He moves quickly with each arrangement, but behind every perfectly placed flower, there is intention.“You know, you can’t take it [the pain] away, but I get to be in a position where I can help that healing process with creative energy,” Dusk said. “I like using different colors to heal.”Calls have been pouring into Boulder Gardens Florist for arrangements and deliveries to the police departments, the memorial and the families of the victims.Heidi Lunsford, an employee at the flower shop, says flowers help people showcase their support and cope with the tragic loss at a time when many feel helpless.Aaron Pilling dropped by the shop and picked up ten red roses — one for each victim — and two bouquets of flowers. CLICK HERE FOR MORE.FOX13's Lauren Coleman chose Mason’s Florist, one of the oldest Black-owned flower shops in Memphis.Tucked in the 3100 Block of Park Avenue in East Memphis is a flower shop, but it’s not just any shop.Mason’s Florist is one of the oldest Black-owned flower shops in the Mid-South.“We are a full-service flower shop,” designer and driver Patricia Williams said.“We do flowers for all occasions: funerals, weddings, get-well, anniversaries. We are just all-around florists.”From eight in the morning to five in the evening, the family is hard at work pumping out on average more than 200 orders a week.“We work as a team, and we know that we are here to offer a service,” Williams said.“We get our orders together, and everybody knows whatever their role is.”The shop opened in June of 1977 and has been in the family for more than 40 years.The store now sits in its third location.“My mom worked for Newman Florist on Lamar for many years,” Williams explained.“She envisioned having her own business, and she started out down on Park in that little strip mall. The Magnolia Avenue Airstream will be open until Thursday. On Saturday, the Camp Bowie space will be open from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.

I am my mom’s biggest fan and there is absolutely nothing she can’t do.”Christy Metz, Sweetwater’s head florist and creative director, echoed the same sentiments as Cline’s daughters.“She has really great relationships and cares about everybody, and that just comes across,” Metz said of Cline. “She’s also great at delegating and finding out peoples’ strengths and using those to build a strong team.”Metz, 57, was a florist in Chicago for over a decade before returning to her hometown a few years ago.
