Livingston Mother and Daughter Spread Love with Anonymous Bouquets - TAPinto.net
Sunday, February 28, 2021After purchasing the flowers from a Livingston-based florist, Leena designs the arrangements—occasionally with the assistance of her boyfriend. Prior to surprising people with mystery flower arrangements, Sanborn and her daughter have also been known to write anonymous inspirational notes to leave on random windshields throughout town and assemble gift bags for New York City’s homeless population. For a few years, Sanborn set up a blow-up couch on the sidewalks of Manhattan offering “free advice” to passerby. Today, Sanborn displays a “free advice” bumper sticker on her vehicle accompanied by her phone number. As an inspirational guidance coach for her own business, Sanborn aims to “help people rediscover their true purpose and give them tools to live a happier, healthier life.”Noting that she had a life-altering realization when she turned 41, Sanborn said that “everything about life and love and contribution" suddenly became very clear to her.“I believe that we all spend a lot of time doing for ourselves when we are younger—not knowing that true happiness comes from giving, not receiving," she said. “Giving to others doesn’t have to cost anything. You can offer someone a smile, or a hello, or just pray for them. When you practice giving to others in this way, your own life magically transforms.” Sanborn recalled that despite not having a great deal of money, her father was always a very generous tipper. She specifically reflected on a moment in the 1990s when her father presented $50 to a homeless man, who she remembers jumping up and down and laughing at the stranger’s generosity.“My dad taught me if someone asks you for something and you can help, by all means, help,” she said. “If you are not feeling happy these days, the fastest way to feel better is to do something nice for someone else. One step further: make it anonymous.” Community members are invited to assist in Sanborn’s endeavor by donating flowers, vases, ribbons or gift cards to local florists or by making a monetary contribution. To donate or to place an order, contact Sanborn at more.alignment@yahoo.com or 856-397-7879.Don’t miss important news in Livingston. Especially Yours Florist to Celebrate 20 Years in Kenilworth - TAPinto.net
Sunday, February 28, 2021KENILWORTH, NJ - Twenty years ago, on October 7, Especially Yours Florist opened its doors. Since that day this local florist shop has been a staple in the Kenilworth community creating flower arrangements and floral gifts for numerous occasions and celebrations. Owner Cindy Baker Southern spoke to TAPinto Kenilworth to tell her story how it all began.Starting a business 20 years ago was the scariest thing I have ever done. Not sure of what would be ahead of me, I was positive I would give it my all. My first year open brought challenges I did not expect. My sister Jaye Shear found out she had breast cancer and would leave working with me. I hired a driver, Sharon Iscaro to help out, and nineteen years later we are still together. She became shop help, a designer, and my friend. We went through the tragedy of 9-11, and helped raise money for the first responders, and then we had a fire in the front of the shop! Having gone through a tough first year, I realize none of it mattered if we didn’t giv... https://www.tapinto.net/articles/especially-yours-florist-to-celebrate-20-years-in-kenilworth

Bell Flowers Featured in 'Made In Montgomery' Series - Source of the Spring
Sunday, February 28, 2021Montgomery.The Silver Spring purveyor of fresh flowers and plants, located at 8947 Brookville Road near the Forest Glen Annex, has been in business since the 1930s when the Mangums opened Mangum Florist, and later sold to their daughter, Lola Mangum Bell, in 1947. “It was Mangum Florist, probably since the 30s, and originally started by my great-grandparents. And then, in the 50s, my great-uncle and aunt bought it. And then my parents bought it from them in 1983, and I will be the fourth generation [owner],” said current owner Chad Mangum in the video.Mangum says that the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted their supply chain, but the business has remained steady overall. “Actually, at the beginning of 2020, not knowing what was going to come, I decided to put a little air-purifying plant section on our website, and that has exploded. People, you know, since they’re now working from home, want to have a little air-purifying plant on their desk, [and] have a nice little background for your Zoom calls and things like that.“So we’ve seen a huge increase in the number of peace lilies we’re selling, which are probably the number one house plant we sell. Close behind that would be the orchid plants; those are just beautiful as you can see, you know the blooms, and they last for months. They’ve gotten to be a lot easier to care for nowadays, too.”Councilmember Will Jawando is a regular customer. “It’s to the point now where I just say I need my arrangements, and they know what they’re doing.”Mangum says that the best part of the business is its large base of regular customers and the location. “It’s an amazingly diverse community. I’ve been born and raised here and love the county myself. We’re so close to the Beltway right here in Silver Spring, that we can get to basically anywhere in our delivery area within 30 minutes, and that kind of service I... https://www.sourceofthespring.com/silver-spring/bell-flowers-featured-in-made-in-montgomery-series/
