Bozeman florist starts 'Kindness Blooms' project, nominating 'inspirational helpers' amid pandemic - KBZK Bozeman News
Thursday, April 02, 2020BOZEMAN — Right now, hope is coming in many shapes and sizes, with people doing what they can to spread hope in their communities while not spreading the coronavirus. To Richelle Koffman in Bozeman, hope is a key word and she’s spreading it in the form of wreaths. But not making them herself. She’s giving that opportunity to you. “This is the perfect time to create,” Koffman says.At the Flower Bar, kindness blooms — literally. That’s what Koffman hopes for in each bouquet. “Since we can’t meet in person, I figured let’s bring the creativity and the workshop to someone at home,” Koffman says.Except spending time with flowers might seem like a tough thing to do when we are spending time indoors. Not to Koffman.“It’s springtime,” Koffman says. “We want to see greenery, flowers. The wreath workshop DIY kit is available for a family to get together and learn different types of flowers.”Do-It-Yourself wreaths, which you can purchase on her website, are available for families to work on at home ... https://www.kbzk.com/news/coronavirus/bozeman-florist-starts-kindness-blooms-project-nominating-inspirational-helpers-amid-pandemic
Flower Farming: Passiflora Farm specializes in flowers, from seed to centerpiece - Powell Tribune
Saturday, January 18, 2020It wasn’t until the ’70s or ’80s that we saw that shift to South America.”She’s excited to bring the movement to rural Wyoming. Passiflora Farm is the only flower farm in the area. There are a few in Bozeman, Montana, and also one in Sheridan.“It’s fairly new, even in the region,” she said.In addition to doing flowers for weddings and events, Passiflora Farm does wholesale flowers, selling in Billings, Red Lodge, Cody and Powell. Local residents can become CSA (community supported agriculture) members, buying a “share” of the farm’s flowers. On a warm August afternoon, Urick walked through the field and hoop house, explaining each section and the flowers’ unique traits. She pointed to a row of coveted Cafe au Lait dahlias.“They’re dinner-plate size, so they’re huge, and they vary in color from ivory to cream to blush, even lavender,” Urick said.Nearby are sweet peas, which loved the cooler weather this season. She plans to save the seeds for future seasons.“It’s really hard to find these seeds,” she explained. “You’d have to go through England, so now we have some American farmers like myself who are saving our own seed and kind of hoping to build that stock up here in the U.S.”The heirloom flowers are kind of old-fashioned, Urick said, but becoming popular again.span clas... http://www.powelltribune.com/stories/flower-farming-passiflora-farm-specializes-in-flowers-from-seed-to-centerpiece,20631

Tuesday, December 12, 2017A Bozeman-based flower shop has been getting quite a bit of attention. "People just love flowers, they just love flowers - it just has such a powerful presence to make someone's day." said the owner of The Flower Hat, Julio Freitas. His store is located in Four Corners, but his love for flowers started in his home country of Brazil. "There was a line of gardeners and artisans in the family and we always grew flowers," said Freitas. When the business first started Julio was ordering flowers from places like South America, but soon realized he couldn't rely on the delivery companies, so he began to grow his own."To say that we grow them here and you have them tomorrow," Freitas said.Besides being locally grown, you can pick out a Flower Hat arrangement at a wedding or event by the meticulous designs that Julio does all himself."As a designer, my goal is to put myself in the shoes of that bride and think how can I make that color combination special. Now with locations on the east and west sides of Glacier National Park, she’s featuring local retailers and florists as well as exotic plants that wouldn’t normally be found in rural areas. “Our goal is always to bring things to communities like Columbia Falls and Cut Bank that have more of an urban feel to them — brands you wouldn’t normally see in Montana — and then we try to do the same thing with our flowers,” K... https://flatheadbeacon.com/2020/12/02/flowers-home-decor-nucleus-avenue/
