The florist-to-the-stars told WEHOville that he gave special care to create an arrangement appropriate for each location.“I always check out the surrounding elements for inspiration,” said Buterbaugh. “For example, I thought it’d be fun to incorporate pink pampasin front of Pink Dot. I was inspired by the yellow building at the Sunset Plaza sign so we incorporated stunning yellow forsythia, yellow acacia, yellow lipstick pincushion protea and lots of soft pinks for an opulent, springtime vibe. In addition to being a Sweetwater florist, she handles the market’s social media channels, including Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.“We built this business from the ground up and seeing it come to life is mesmerizing,” Izzy Cline said. “As a young woman working for a woman-owned business it feels powerful ... I am my mom’s biggest fan and there is absolutely nothing she can’t do.”Christy Metz, Sweetwater’s head florist and creative director, echoed the same sentiments as Cline’s daughters.“She has really great relationships and cares about everybody, and that just comes across,” Metz said of Cline. “She’s also great at delegating and finding out peoples’ strengths and using those to build a strong team.”Metz, 57, was a florist in Chicago for over a decade before returning to her hometown a few years ago. It was recognized by the public as the best, winning the best florist category in the 2020 WRAL Voters' Choice Awards.The company has been around for more than 100 years, since the Fallon family migrated to Raleigh in 1919 and began growing their own flowers in a series of greenhouses near Oakwood Cemetery.In 1920, the Fallons opened a retail shop on Fayetteville Street in downtown Raleigh, where they sold flowers for decades until they moved into the current building at 700 Saint Mary's St., which was originally a Piggly Wiggly.The business was eventually sold to the Brown-Wynne family and is now owned by the McCarthy family.
