Lorraine Lucille Layton, florist, craftsperson - CapeGazette.com
Wednesday, March 31, 2021High School and after getting married, moved to Lewes. Ms. Layton enjoyed being a homemaker and embarked on a career in floral design working for McNichol Place, and then spent many years at Windsors Florist. Later in life she enjoyed working with extended family at Millmans Hardware, and there she was able to showcase one of her many talents - wood crafts. Lorraine had a lifetime passion for crafts, art, drawing, and woodworking. She was generous and kind and loved to make Christmas ornaments, wooden toys and decorations, and other intricate handmade crafts for friends and family. When she wasn't busy working and crafting, Ms. Layton was spending time with those she loved most. Lorraine was a dear friend to all, and a wonderful loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to many. In addition to her parents, Ms. Layton was preceded in death by her son, Wayne Layton. She is survived by her son, Eddie Layton (Beverly) of Lewes; her daughter, Jeanne M. Fischer of Lewes; her son, Richard Layton of Lewes; her daughter, Judy Bundick (Lee) of Lewes; and her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. All services will be private. Arrangements have been entrusted to Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes. The florist-to-the-stars told WEHOville that he gave special care to create an arrangement appropriate for each location.“I always check out the surrounding elements for inspiration,” said Buterbaugh. “For example, I thought it’d be fun to incorporate pink pampasin front of Pink Dot. I was inspired by the yellow building at the Sunset Plaza sign so we incorporated stunning yellow forsythia, yellow acacia, yellow lipstick pincushion protea and lots of soft pinks for an opulent, springtime vibe. Wednesday, March 31, 2021ORLANDO, Fla. – Mother’s Day weekend is a time when many people purchase flowers for their moms, but an Orlando florist said increased holiday sales may not be enough to help an industry that saw a lot of business disappear during the coronavirus pandemic.The sounds of customers coming and going are welcomed by Bay Hill Florist owner Carol Newton.Newton said she opened the doors to her business on Monday for the first time in more than a month. Her store was closed for a week after the statewide stay-at-home order was enforced, but she later reopened her business to offer deliveries only.Still she said the COVID-19 pandemic is wilting her business. Newton said she lost 95% of her sales.“We lost an awful lot of business with Disney, Universal, the hotels and restaurants in the area. It was very tough,” Newton said.She is hoping her business will bloom now that the state is slowly reopening.Newton said this time of the year is usually busy for her store.
